Students must also complete five (5) additional major-area courses, which include any courses with prefixes HQSS or HSSC as well as HST 160 – Introduction to Science Communication.

Students must declare a concentration in Psychology, Sociology, or Political Science.

Students must complete three (3) upper-division (300- or 400-level) courses in their declared concentration discipline.

Students must complete five (5) additional elective courses, chosen by the student, which may be used to satisfy minor, double major, or dual-degree requirements.

Students must complete five (5) courses in one or more disciplines outside of the major program of study, including (but not limited to) engineering management, physics, chemistry, computer science, marketing analytics, or another discipline within HASS. These courses may be used to satisfy minor, double major, or dual-degree requirements.

Students must complete all of the following: Note that 2-credit courses are half a semester each and are completed in pairs (e.g. MA 121 + MA 122 = one semester, 4 credits).

  • MA 121 – Differential Calculus (2 cr.)

  • MA 122 – Integral Calculus (2 cr.)

  • MA 125 – Vectors and Matrices (2 cr.)

  • MA 126 – Multivariable Calculus (2 cr.)

  • MA 331 – Intermediate Statistics

Students must also complete one (1) of the following:

  • ENGR 241 – Probability and Statistics with Data Science Applications

  • ENGR 243 – Probability and Statistics for Engineering

  • MA 223 – Introduction to Probability

Students must complete one (1) course from the following: (Completing the lab component of a science course carries one additional credit per course.)

  • CE 240 – Introduction to Geosciences

  • CH prefix – any course, level 100-499

  • BIO prefix – any course, level 100-499

  • PEP prefix – any course, level 100-499

Students must complete:

  • CS 105 – Introduction to Scientific Computing

  • CS 115 – Introduction to Computer Science (4 cr.)

Students must complete one (1) of the following:

  • MGT 103 – Introduction to Entrepreneurial Thinking (2 cr.)

  • MGT 301 – Strategy

  • MGT 372 – Entrepreneurship

Students must complete the following courses to prepare for and execute their senior thesis projects:

  • HST / HQSS 301 – Research Design and Methods

  • HASS 498 – Thesis Preparation

  • HASS 499 – Senior Thesis (4 cr.)
