The Bachelor of Science degree in Quantitative Social Science (QSS) equips students with a set of methodological research and analytical skills to learn about society and human behavior. The degree is uniquely designed to facilitate multidisciplinary training with the application of quantitative methods across the social science concentrations offered for study at Stevens - Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology. Student Outcomes

• Theoretical Foundation: The student will develop an understanding of the evolution of the disciplines of the social sciences, including underlying theories and historical approaches, enhancing their ability to integrate quantitative social science into current social contexts.

• Research: The student will be able to design and conduct research in the social sciences using appropriate theories and quantification methods for the disciplines of political science, psychology, and sociology. 

• Tools: The student will learn to create, conduct, and interpret empirical investigations of the social world using statistical and computational techniques, including learning to analyze, describe, and visualize quantitative arguments and data.

• Teamwork: The student will contribute to research and scholarly activity as part of a working team member – this includes facilitating cooperation, gaining the opportunity to provide leadership, and effectively collaborating with others to achieve a common goal.

• Communication: The student will enhance their written and oral presentation skills using a variety of means and gain the ability to effectively communicate across a range of audiences.

• Ethics: The student will apply moral frameworks and logical rigor to analyses of social scientific problems and practices. They will also understand and abide by standards of ethics appropriate to the discipline on a professional level. 

• Professionalism: The student will achieve a high degree of knowledge, accountability, and ability to transfer classroom experiences to professional practice, including developing plans for real-world outputs and meeting objectives.
