Program Description
The minor degree in Aerospace Engineering introduces students to the fundamental principles behind the design, analysis, and operation of aircraft and spacecraft. This program is ideal for students majoring in mechanical engineering, as well as other STEM disciplines, who want to expand their knowledge of flight and space systems. Graduates with a minor in aerospace engineering will be well-prepared to pursue careers in aviation, defense, space exploration, and advanced manufacturing, or to continue their studies in graduate-level aerospace or related engineering disciplines.
Program Objectives
Demonstrate a working knowledge of fundamental concepts in aerodynamics, propulsion, flight mechanics, and aerospace structures.
Use mathematical models and physical laws to analyze and solve basic aerospace engineering problems.
Connect concepts from physics, mathematics, and engineering to understand the behavior and performance of aerospace systems.
Gain familiarity with computational tools, simulation software, and experimental methods commonly used in aerospace engineering.
Understand the basic process of aerospace vehicle design, including considerations of performance, safety, efficiency, and environmental impact.
Build a foundation for further education in aerospace or related fields, or for entry-level roles in industries such as aviation, defense, or space technology.
