Program Description
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) minor is designed to provide students with a strong theoretical foundation and practical skills in modern AI techniques, situated within a broad scientific and technical education. This minor provides two distinct pathways, one designed for Computer Science (CS), Cybersecurity (CyS), and Quantitative Finance (QF) majors and one for majors outside these disciplines.
Students in CS, CyS and QF majors can complete the minor efficiently by leveraging overlapping prerequisites and degree requirements. Core coursework in artificial intelligence, data management, mathematical foundations for machine learning, and advanced AI-related electives integrates seamlessly into their existing academic pathways. The minor consists of six required courses.
Students in these other majors can pursue the minor with a dedicated seven-course pathway with no hidden prerequisites. This structure ensures that students entering the minor have the necessary background to succeed in advanced AI coursework while maintaining clear, transparent paths for different student groups.
