Program Description

Engineering managers play a vital role in improving the efficiency of manufacturing and technological processes. The Engineering Management (EM) minor focuses on giving engineering students a basic understanding of project-management methods and analysis tools necessary to manage technical operations and projects effectively.

This minor is open to all engineering majors and provides the student with an understanding of basic concepts relevant to the management of engineering operations. Open to engineering students with a 2.7 GPA or higher.

Program Objectives

This program prepares students to:

1. Students will learn the fundamental principles of engineering management
2. Students will gain skills in analyzing business operations
3. Students will learn the principles of data analysis and how to apply them
4. Students will explore and understand the processes necessary to manage the development enterprise

Program Outcomes

By the time of graduation, students will be able to:

1. Design Assessment: Students will be able to assess and determine appropriate methodologies to improve technical and business processes
2. Tools: Students will learn to use tools to model, analyze, and visualize data
3. Communication: Students will be able to effectively convey solutions, information, problems, and their impact in a coherent manner.
