Notes:
(1) Inorganic Chemistry, course, is required if you wish to pursue ACS certification and is only offered in Fall semester. If you are interested, it can be taken in Term V or Term VII. It can be used to fulfill a general elective or technical elective in addition to the ACS certification.
2) Technical Elective: Can be selected from available CH and BIO 300, 400, 500-level as well as selected courses listed below that are not already included in your degree program requirements. Suggested technical electives for the Chemical Biology program include the following:
BIO 307, BIO 392, BIO 400, BIO 405, BIO 487, BIO 507, BIO 509, BIO 526, BIO 586, CH 412, CH 520, CH 550, CH 564, CH 574
Whichever of BIO 568 and BIO 583 you choose as a core course, the other may be chosen as a Technical Elective

If you are interested in a taking a course related to biology of chemistry in another department not on this list, please contact your academic advisor.
(3) General Electives can be selected from available courses offered by programs in SES, SOB and HASS (including CH/BIO courses). Approval from the student’s advisor and the course instructor may be required.
Recommended general elective if planning to pursue an engineering master's would be: course Differential Equations.
Recommended general elective courses connected to the major include: course Quantitative Biology and course Modern Physics.

(5) SUCCESS Core Curriculum: Students must complete requirements including PRV 101, and three (3) courses from PRV 201, PRV 202, PRV 203, PRV 204, PRV 205.
The Combined B.S.-M.D. Program is an opportunity to earn the B.S. degree in Chemical Biology at Stevens and the M.D. degree at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) in a total of seven years. If you are a high school senior who has demonstrated academic excellence, in the top 10% of your class, with a combined SAT score of at least 1400 and a promise for a career in medicine, you can be considered for the B.S.-M.D. program. Admission to this program is highly competitive, and an interview at both Stevens and the medical school is required. If accepted to this program, you must complete three years in the Accelerated Chemical Biology program with a GPA of at least 3.50, grades in all of the premed courses at least B (not B-) or above, and you take the MCAT exam. Normally, you would take the MCAT exam your junior year at Stevens (3rd year) and submit to NJMS for approval. Stevens awards the B.S. degree upon successful completion of the first year of medical studies.
Note: If you are admitted to the accelerated chemical biology program, you'll take the same courses as the science majors in the first year, adding other program requirements during the following semesters at Stevens, and then enter the medical school at the beginning of your fourth year. Transfer credit for courses taken in the first year of study at the medical school are used to complete the requirements of the Bachelor of Science degree.
*The Academic Plan shows the suggested three years of courses to take at Stevens and the total credit hours shown are the credit hours taken at Stevens not the credit hours needed to fulfill the degree. Note the last year of courses will be taken at NJMS and transferred to Stevens to fulfill the requirements of the Chemical Biology degree. The courses that are normally satisfied by the NJMS first year courses for the chemical biology degree are 2 general electives, 2 technical electives, BIO 583 Advanced Physiology, CH 421 Chemical Dynamics, CH 582 Biophysical Chemistry.
