This course aims at introducing students to machine learning and analytics in civil engineering applications to foster their ability to work across traditional disciplinary boundaries between civil engineering and data science. By the end of this course, students should be able to (1) describe machine learning concepts and terminology, (2) implement machine learning methods, (3) analyze and evaluate the capabilities and limitations of machine learning methods in different civil engineering applications, and (4) apply and/or develop machine learning methods to solve real-world problems in civil engineering.
