AI & Machine Learning for Industrial Applications: Innovations in Rheology and Material Processing

Course Description

This course provides students with the theoretical and practical understanding of rheology and processing of complex fluids—polymers, gels, and suspensions—while integrating modern machine learning techniques for data analysis and process optimization. The emphasis on material selection will be on biomaterials and their processing for various biomedical applications. Through detailed exploration and utilization of rheometers (rotational, capillary, slit, squeeze, extensional) and processing technologies (including melt electrowriting, electrospinning, additive manufacturing, roll coating, molding, extrusion), students will learn to characterize and process these materials effectively. The course will integrate machine learning techniques to data analysis to understand the processing methods and the role played by rheological behavior of complex fluids.
