AI for Advanced Software Architecture

Software Engineering (Program)Engineering and Science

Course Description

This course introduces software architecture through the lens of modern AI enabled software engineering. It focuses on foundational architectural principles, including quality attributes, tactics and architectural patterns, while leveraging contemporary AI technologies such as large language models to support hands-on learning and understanding. A rapid feedback loop enables insightful learning by directly connecting architectural design decisions to implementation interfaces and deployment outcomes. Students learn software architecture from the beginning by combining core theoretical concepts with hands-on practice using state of the art AI tools for coding and architectural reasoning. Through case studies, guided projects and interactive sessions, students apply architectural fundamentals to real-world systems using AI to accelerate exploration decision making and validation while maintaining architectural rigor. The course prepares students to design, evaluate, and evolve complex software systems in modern development environments while balancing sound architectural foundations with the realities of AI-assisted software practice.
