Vocal Technologies: Larynx to Laptop
Music and Technology (Program)Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences
Course Description
This course will serve as a studio workshop for students who are interested in developing a technologically empowered vocal performance and recording practice. The class will discuss “industry standards” in a few example genres only as a jumping off point for discussion – software, hardware, and coding tools will all be explored as a buffet of electronic options ready for the modern musician to wield in pursuit of their own individual practices and aesthetics in any vocal genre or context. This course will require all students to vocalize, both in their own assignments, and in class-wide projects – all students must come to class each week ready to raise their voice!
